Working in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering, you will be committed to contributing to our continued success. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the delivery of topics relating to our mechanical engineering curriculum, with a focus on Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.  Working within our school team, you will develop your abilities in module delivery and project supervision, including supporting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling. You will have knowledge in CFD modelling software (e.g. Ansys, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, etc.); experience in other engineering tools (e.g. CONVERGE CFD, MATLAB, Abaqus, HyperMesh and Hyperworks) will also be beneficial.  You should have excellent, up-to-date, experience in both theoretical and applied/experimental techniques in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, and be able to link current themes and research in your teaching. The candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject, but candidates with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level are also encouraged to apply.

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do. You will be expected to undertake design and delivery of teaching that is engaging, innovative and responsive that achieves excellent student learning outcomes. You must also be willing to work flexibly to promote and support our international partnerships.

The successful applicant’s research profile should align with the Engineering Applications of Fluid Mechanics research group within the Centre for Fluids and Complex Systems (FCS). The group’s research interests include (but are not limited to) mass and heat transfer, multiphase and reactive flow in porous media, turbulence, aerodynamics and combustion, with an emphasis on energy/environmental applications.

Experience of working on research projects, including grant and funding applications, research leadership, supervision, quality publications and conference presentations will be highly advantageous. Please submit a research statement alongside your application.
