The Particle Physics Department at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory is looking for an outstanding Experimental Particle Physics Research Associate, to work on trigger and data acquisition systems for the CMS and/or DUNE experiments.

The PPD CMS group has been prominent on the CMS experiment since the start of the collaboration, leading the design and construction of the CMS electromagnetic endcap calorimeters (ECAL), delivering elements of the Level 1 calorimeter trigger upgrade and now has a focus the use of FPGAs for the initial data processing components of the HL-LHC upgrades for the Tracker, L1 Trigger and ECAL. PPD has been involved in the DUNE collaboration since early 2018 on DAQ and computing and provides the current Technical Lead for the DAQ Consortium.

Can you see yourself working with cutting edge electronics developing some of the most sophisticated electronics systems in the world? If so, you will need, a PhD in Particle Physics or similar and experience of working with DAQ or Trigger systems
