Spoonful of Sugar is a UCL Business Company founded by Professor Rob Horne (UCL Professor of Behavioural Science). We apply behavioural science to help patients and healthcare professionals to get the best from effective treatments by supporting treatment engagement and adherence, thereby optimising health outcomes. Due to growth, we are looking for behavioural scientists to join our dynamic and agile team.

The Junior Behavioural Science Consultant supports the Senior/Behavioural Science Consultants. The work involves research-related activities (rapid literature reviews/qualitative and quantitative research) and developing patient support content to drive desired medicines-related behaviours e.g. treatment adherence. All research and interventions are conducted/developed through the lens of Professor Horne’s Perceptions and Practicalities Approach (PAPATM) – an evidenced-based approach for increasing adherence.Familiarity with this approach will therefore be beneficial.

You have an MSc (or higher) in psychology or other behavioural science, complemented by real-world experience of research in a clinical or commercial setting. In terms of research activities, you will be proficient in identifying and analysing peer-reviewed literature, designing research questionnaires and interview schedules, survey programming (e.g., Qualtrics), undertaking quantitative data analysis (SPSS), and conducting qualitative interviews and associated thematic analysis. You will also have experience of developing intervention support materials to be delivered in various formats/channels – digital/analogue and direct-to-patient or via healthcare professionals. You will also support the development of slide decks for presentations and pitches.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys using their creativity and problem-solving skills to produce effective solutions for clients. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality work whilst taking into account client-agreed timelines and budgets.

The role is 5 days/week and is predominantly home-based with some office working. We offer a competitive salary and package, and the opportunity to work alongside the UK’s leading adherence expert. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a fun, growing agency and to work with – and learn from – world-class experts to develop programmes that drive genuine behavioural change.

Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as suitable applicants will be called forward to interview on an ongoing basis. The position therefore may be filled before the specified job close date.
