The University of York has recently been awarded Office for Students (OfS) and Research England (RE) funding in collaboration with the Universities of Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam, to increase access to postgraduate research for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates. The Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education (YCEDE) is an ambitious project that aims to deliver profound structural and cultural change in Higher Education (HE) practices across the five Yorkshire Universities involved in this project, by developing a beacon of best practice that can be advertised and used more widely, to enhance opportunities for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) of colour nationwide.
The York Graduate Research School (YGRS) currently sits within the wider Executive Operations Department and is looking to appoint a confident and experienced project manager who will lead on the coordination of activities to assist in the timely progression of the YCEDE project, which aims to deliver fundamental changes at an institutional level.
This is a new role that will coordinate consortium activities and finances; supervise a G4 Project Administrator at York; provide the central point of contact for Project Administrators from other partners, workstream leads and external partners; provide guidance on appointing research interns and running training activities.
It will involve extensive communication and collaboration with staff from partner universities involved in the YCEDE project, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
