Salary: As this vacancy has limited funding the maximum salary that can be offered is Grade 8, salary £42,149.
The Department of Film and Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham wishes to appoint an education-focused Assistant Professor in Film with effect from January 2022 until 31st August 2024. The post holder will have expertise in critical and creative aspects of Film.
We seek an early career academic with a completed and successfully examined PhD and a strong teaching record who will contribute to the teaching management and development activities in the Department of Film and Creative Writing.
The successful candidate will be expected to advance the practice of teaching within the department and take a role in leading curriculum development whilst also taking an important role in student academic support. Management and administration is likely to involve contributions at departmental and school level. This may include developing and making substantial contributions to knowledge transfer, enterprise, public engagement and widening participation. The post holder should also deliver excellent teaching that inspires students, and is informed by discipline-based research.
The appointee will be expected to demonstrate academic citizenship, developing and maintaining mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students, ensuring the way they carry out their role impacts positively on how others carry out theirs.
