Faculty / Directorate

A comprehensive programme of development activities building upon the innovative use of learning technology and the Universal Design for Learning framework is fundamental to the delivery of excellent learning experiences for De Montfort University’s 25,000+ students. Based in the Centre for Academic Innovation and Teaching Excellence, the growing influence of the Digital Learning and Teaching team reflects the significance of these areas of activity to the University’s mission to deliver a student experience of high quality and distinctiveness, and providing students with an exciting, supportive and transformative learning experience.

Role

The role of the Digital Teaching Consultant will complement those of the Digital Learning and Teaching team and is designed to build further capacity in the use of University-managed systems and external technologies for teaching. At De Montfort University we employ a range of supported systems, including Blackboard, Turnitin, social media and DMU Replay; a process for recording and presenting staff led teaching activities (based on Panopto software).

This full-time post is available on a fixed term contract for 24 months in the first instance.

Ideal Candidate

You should have previous experience of designing, developing and delivering support for others in the use of educational technologies and have a sound understanding of the pedagogic ideas that underpin their use. Support is provided face to face (when possible) and remotely via our virtual classrooms in MS Teams and self-help guidance is available via pre-prepared multi-modal resources (see the Digital Learning and Teching hub at DMU). In addition, the Digital Learning and Teaching team continue to assess and develop the innovative use of these (and other) technologies.
