About the role:
The Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences, within the School of Psychology and Sport Science is a leading provider of quality education in Optometry, Ophthalmic Dispensing & Audiology in the UK and has been at the forefront in the development of innovative courses in these areas.
We are recruiting two experienced optometrists to join our team. The prospective candidates will have the opportunity to support and lead in the development of our Optometry, Ophthalmic Dispensing, and Contact Lens Optician courses, and opportunities to develop their research in the vision sciences. You will contribute to the broad range of the School’s teaching portfolio. You will also demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute to the School’s research and associated scholarly & consulting activities.
With a degree or relevant professional qualification and extensive post qualification CPD (for Practitioner), you will have to contribute to the broad range of the School’s teaching portfolio. You will also demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute to the School’s research and associated scholarly & consulting activities. Senior Lecturers must possess a degree and a PhD in a relevant discipline, and you will have experience of teaching in a higher education setting. Other relevant professional and clinical experience will also be considered. Professional qualifications as an Optometrist are required for this position. Specific expertise in contact lenses is especially desirable.
Please note that this post is advertised as either a Senior Lecturer Practitioner or as a Senior Lecturer. A maximum of 2 appointments at 1.0FTE will be made overall following the recruitment round. Fractional appointments will be considered.
