School of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) intends to become a school of excellence in humanities and social sciences, and to provide high-quality programmes in multiple areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At present, HSS offers five high-quality graduate programmes: Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting Studies, Master of Arts in Global Studies, Master of Science in Applied Psychology, Master of Arts in Simultaneous Interpreting, and MPhil-PhD in Global Studies. At the undergraduate level, HSS offers Bachelor of Arts programme in Translation, Bachelor of Arts programme in English Studies and Bachelor of Science programme in Applied Psychology. HSS will also starts new interdisciplinary programmes at bachelor, master and PhD levels.
The appointee is expected to commence work in AY2021-2022; to be the leading scholar in the area of decision and enterprise at HSS; and able to teach a range of courses in core areas of decision and enterprise, to develop cooperative relations with decision and enterprise industries and to assist in curriculum development and administrative assignments. A Ph.D. must be in hand prior to taking up the appointment.
Professor or Associate Professor
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in decision science and enterprise economy (specialization areas including, but not limited to, sociology, political science, public policy, economy sociology, entrepreneurship, public management, data analysis, risk analysis, innovation, computational social science, digital investment, corporation governance, intellectual property, monopoly, internationalization of the Renminbi, operation management, strategic planning and etc.). Applications are invited for faculty position at the rank of full professor/associate professor level with prospect for tenure, although junior candidate with very competitive academic records may be considered for position of assistant professor. Candidate with exceptionally outstanding records may be considered for Chair Professorship with tenure.
Candidate for full professor or associate professor position is expected to have solid evidence of excellence in teaching/research/service, and a strong track record of sustained high-quality research/scholarship outcomes in the expertise area(s), as evidenced by research publications in competitive international outlets in the relevant areas of decision and enterprise. In addition, candidate need to demonstrate academic leadership and strong commitment to the highest standard of excellence. Candidate is advised to provide quality indicators for the journals where he/she have research publications (e.g., journal impact factor, journal ranking in a relevant category, as available in the Journal Citations Reports of the Web of Science).
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, leading to longer-term appointment or tenure later, subject to successful performance evaluation and mutual agreement. In cases where a candidate has an established record of excellence and demonstrable potential for continued success, tenure may be offered to the candidate at the time of initial appointment.
Salary & Benefits
Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made under the establishment of CUHK, Shenzhen and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable in the PRC. The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, PRC.
