The University of Tübingen invites applications for a position at its Institute of Philosophy as a
Assistant Professor of Philosophy (W1)
to commence on 01.04.2022.
The position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension for a further two years after a positive interim evaluation. Detailed information on the criteria for the interim and final evaluations may be found in our guidelines for review under the following link: https://uni-tuebingen.de/fakultaeten/philosophische-fakultaet/fakultaet/ausschreibungenstellenangebote/#c1489494
Teaching responsibilities include the organization and teaching of logic courses for the Philosophy Department. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to the interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter.
Independent research in the area of logic is expected. In the course of the contract, the W1 professor is expected to attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for an appointment as a tenured professor at any university or equivalent institution (successful completion of the position advertised is thus considered equivalent to a Habilitation). Applications from those who have completed a Habilitation will not be considered.
Prerequisites include an outstanding dissertation in Philosophy and teaching experience; publications in internationally recognized specialist journals are an advantage. The willingness and academic ability to carry out closely research-related teaching in the field of logic is expected.
The University of Tübingen is particularly interested in increasing the number of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages women to apply. In line with its internationalization agenda, the university welcomes applications from researchers out-side Germany.
Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
The German-language advertisement is the sole legally binding advertisement of this position.
Applications (including a curriculum vitae and description of academic career, scanned copies of degree certificates, list of publications, list of classes taught) along with personally authored monographs and up to 5 relevant papers are to be sent in electronic form to the Dean of the Faculty of the Humanities (email@example.com) by February 4, 2022.
