ARU Police Education

About the role:

ARU are delighted to be working with The Metropolitan Police and the Seven Police Forces in the Eastern Region – Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk – to train Police Officers of the future. We will be offering the new Police Education Qualification Framework (PEQF) developed by the College of Policing.

The PEQF aims to further professionalise policing as a career, by both recognising and raising educational standards, and ARU has been selected to provide the educational training for two new entry routes into the profession. New Police Constables will enrol on a three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), which combines a degree programme with on-the-job training, while a two-year Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) will be available for new recruits who already have a degree.

We are looking for an Instructor to deliver police education (lecturers, seminars, tutorials, etc.) and support with programme reviews and development. You will assist colleagues in the writing, review, and design process of the programmes. Following this, you will be expected to travel and deliver academic materials to your designated Forces.

You will be degree educated with experience of teaching and quality assurance in a higher education setting. Knowledge of policing practices is also vital. This post is subject to successful NPPV2 (Full) disclosure from Warwickshire Police. This role will be based with Essex forces and the ability to travel between police establishments is required for this programme.

Informal enquiries can be made to Sarah Scannell at Sarah.Scannell@aru.ac.uk
