Salary: Grade 5A/B, £31,406 - £34,304 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Tenure: Fixed term for 2 years

The opportunity

The Centre for Entrepreneurship works to inspire, enable and support entrepreneurial activity across Cardiff Metropolitan University. The award-winning team provides a diverse range of materials, events, activities and, workshops which are designed to encourage and guide entrepreneurial students and graduates.

The Enterprise Mentor Network Co-ordinator will develop and maintain a formal mentoring network made up of students, alumni, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial professionals. Working with the Centre for Entrepreneurship team you will recruit individuals to all roles within the network through a structured marketing campaign and a range of events and activities. You will co-ordinate a formal mentoring scheme, matching mentors with mentees, monitoring and reporting on the ongoing relationships.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.

What you’ll do – key duties

  • You will Develop and manage a formal mentoring scheme for students and graduate entrepreneurs including the development and implementation of guidelines and principles.
  • Manage and grow a network of active and potential mentors made up of alumni and successful, entrepreneurial individuals.
  • Work with the Enterprise Champion and Business Advisors to identify students and graduates who will benefit from a mentoring experience.
  • Match mentors with mentees, taking into account the multiple factors which will affect a successful mentoring partnership.
  • Monitor mentor/mentee relationships, maintaining accurate records and producing regular reports which demonstrate the value of the mentoring scheme.
  • Organise events and activities which will promote the mentor network and to engage with the entrepreneurial ecosystem on a local, regional and national (UK) level.
  • Provide or co-ordinate training for mentors and mentees to maximise the effectiveness of the mentoring relationship.
  • Engage with the wider Enterprise Education ecosystem to share best practice, conducting and sharing simple research on the effectiveness of the programme.

What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths

You will have a good knowledge of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship education as well as specific knowledge of the value of mentoring and personnel development.

You will have advanced communication and interpersonal skills and relevant experience in building and maintaining networks and relationships. Organising and hosting events is an important part of the role, and you will have a passion for persuasion and making people feel welcome.

You are likely to have an existing network of entrepreneurs and business connections and to be willing to expand this network outside of the University.

What you’ll have - essential qualifications

You will have a degree in any subject. Further relevant qualifications such as a postgraduate qualification in personnel development/human resources and/or a qualification in mentoring/coaching are desirable, but not essential.
