We have an exciting opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre for someone with a passion for engineering who is looking to use their skills in manufacturing to make an impact on UK productivity.
As a Project Engineer focusing on electrical machines, you will work within our electrification team to develop the technology and techniques required to manufacture the next generation of electric motors. You will have a particular focus on coil winding, using your technical capabilities to help deliver significant improvements in manufacturing efficiency, using a wide variety of tools and techniques, and working with a number of disciplines across the AMRC.
Involvement in the Factory 2050 Integrated Manufacturing project is a fantastic opportunity to influence the way products are being manufactured and to develop innovative solutions to industrial problems in the UK. You will deal directly with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world. Some of these companies include Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems, Laing O’Rourke and GKN, as well as diverse industries beyond aerospace.
For this role, you will have experience in the design and manufacture of electrical machines, and particularly the coil winding process. You will need experience of working in a practical environment and should also have a good degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience). You should also have excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively organise project resources. It is key that you are able to work well within a project team made up of internal colleagues and external customers.
This post is aimed at both recent graduates and applicants with relevant experience in a research or industrial environment.
