We welcome applications for a Research Associate position in probability to work with Dr Matt Roberts, funded by the Royal Society. The project will involve either (dynamical) random graphs and noise sensitivity, or branching processes with spatial dependence. The successful candidate will join Prob-L@B, a leading research group consisting of 12 permanent academic staff, 5 postdocs and around 30 PhD students. There are weekly seminars during term-time and regular reading groups and graduate courses. There may be the opportunity (but not the requirement) to do a small amount of teaching as part of the role.
This is a fixed-term position for up to 14 months, to start as soon as possible.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics. There are strong interactions between Statistics, Probability and Applied Mathematics, as well as a wide variety of interdisciplinary research projects and industrial collaborations. These activities are supported by the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa), which has an annual intake of 10-15 research students. In addition, the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation promotes cross-campus research activities and international collaborations.
