The Centre for Medical Informatics at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is seeking two research assistants.  We use state of the art data collection tools and analysis techniques to conduct cutting edge health informatics research. The International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infection Consortium (ISARIC;  https://isaric4c.net/) has created tools for international investigators to collect and store data in a standardised way, providing a co-ordinated approach to the outbreak of infectious diseases. 

The Opportunity:
Two Research Assistants are required to contribute to data linkage studies examining the clinical characteristics of COVID19 patients admitted to hospital in the UK. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the response to the COVID19 pandemic by conducting innovative research at the interface between data science and medical research.

Your skills and attributes for success: 
The successful candidate will contribute to the scientific development, administration, and management of research projects

  •  Applicants should be educated to a degree level in a science subject
    •    A high level of level of computer fluency is essential, as is the ability and willingness to quickly become familiar with new applications when required.  
    •    Experience with the computer terminal, console, command line or shell.
    •    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) together with a proactive attitude to problem solving.
