The Centre for Global Health at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an experienced early career researcher who can independently plan, design and carry out systematic reviews on COVID-19 burden. This will entail systematic review of published literature and collecting novel unpublished data from a network of international collaborators.

The Opportunity:
The post holder will coordinate and lead literature reviews in multiple English and Chinese language databases.  In addition to the systematic review, the incumbent would extract and summarize all data to support conduct meta-analysis and develop disease burden estimates using modelling techniques where possible and prepare detailed reports for the funder. Working to a tight deadline, the post holder will prepare a detailed report for the funder and lead two draft manuscripts for publication.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • A PhD (or near completion) in epidemiology or public health. Where candidate has not yet completed PhD, they must able to demonstrate substantial research experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of the design, conduct and reporting of large-scale systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting analysis of aggregate data using appropriate software (e.g. R, STATA). 
  • Extensive track record of carrying out independent, quality research in a data-focussed field and in the delivery of analytical projects.
  • Excellent scientific writing skills, with a solid publication track record (minimum 25 research articles in leading peer-reviewed journals with at least 50% as first / last author).
