This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hard-working nurse to join our existing Airways Nurse Team and work within both a research and clinical environment. The appointee will undertake clinical research studies in asthma and COPD, and support the running of the NHS severe asthma service. They will work closely with Professors Pavord and Bafadhel and Drs Tim Hinks and Richard Russell, Senior Clinical Research fellows, leading projects held primarily at John Radcliffe Hospital. The appointed nurse will have the opportunity to learn about new techniques to assess symptoms, airway function and airway inflammation and will have the opportunity to perform these assessments in research volunteers and clinic patients. The post holder will have additional responsibilities including the coordination of more detailed investigations in patients with unusual patterns of disease and recruitment into research projects. For interested applicants there is an opportunity to develop a specific research area and, if interested, to work towards a higher degree.
You will be a registered nurse. It is essential to be educated to degree level or have evidence of equivalent academic experience. You will be able to discuss complex information e.g. about study designs, clinical interventions, research equipment or operation with other professional groups. It is desirable to have experience of the conduct of clinical research conducted to ICH GCP standards.
The post is full time and fixed-term for up to 1 year (maternity cover).
