JOB OVERVIEW

The Head of Centre’s role is the most senior representation of Study Group on campus representing the ISC in a range of meetings reporting on development and progress across all academic programmes. They are accountable for the effective(CpSW) delivery of high quality academic provision and student satisfaction, achieving agreed relevant KPIs. They will work closely with the Learning Delivery, Sales and Partner Directors in the management of the partnership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To act as an ambassador for the ISC ensuring a professional approach in all undertakings.
  • To provide effective leadership to enhance the student learning experience and to foster a culture of teaching excellence.
  • To appoint and provide leadership to ISC staff and effectively manage line reports through the setting of clear objectives and by regular performance review.
  • To follow a Business Plan for the ISC with a budget set by Study Group.
  • To develop and maintain strong working relationships with University Partners ensuring issues are identified and dealt with promptly or escalated to line management
  • To ensure the design and delivery of high quality academic and language programmes in line with the OfS Quality Code for HE.
  • To ensure compliance with quality assurance and safeguarding procedures within the Centre, using the appropriate governance structures to engage with staff and facilitate decision-making. 
  • To lead and support staff through re-recognition and re-approval events as appropriate ensuring that all members of staff are fully engaged and are aware of their role in the process.
  • To check that all staff have work schemes for all modules, to check progress of all courses, to organise the conduct of exams, consulting as necessary with the Development Director, to liaise with the Development Director on new curriculum changes and training.  To ensure teaching is effective and efficient, observing classes as appropriate and appraising staff annually and maintaining staff records.
  • To check via weekly registers and via staff that students are attending, completing work set, preparing and attending all tests, coursework assessments and module exams, recording all issues and taking action with problems, maintaining student records and results to include reports, Centre Board, MABs and PABs and finally liaising students results and progression with University link tutors, and external examiner(s). Reporting to ISC Steering Group, Academic Board and University International Recruitment team.
  • To check the pastoral welfare of all students including liaison with University welfare and accommodation staff.

You will have proven experience of senior leadership in a multi-disciplinary environment, with evidence of significant success and results. You will have a strong understanding of UK Higher Education and experience of managing study programmes, student support services, administration, and staff within an international, UK further and/or Higher Education context. You will be able to articulate and implement a clear vision to drive forward continuous improvement, as well as monitor and achieve our targets for student outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate strong ability and a track record of collaborative working, which would facilitate strong working relationships with our university partner, as well as across the Study Group network.
