Lecturer in Policing

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is an employment-focused university, dedicated to ensuring students from diverse backgrounds develop the academic knowledge and practical skills to thrive.

We are now looking for a Lecturer in Policing to join our Swansea campus on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE -

You will be located within the Institute of Management and Health. You will be under the line management of the Academic Director (Blue Light Academy).

You will be responsible for the development, design, and delivery of a number of Policing and modules at both undergraduate and post graduate level.

You will be primarily concerned with learning and teaching at undergraduate level, and contributing to the Policing programmes which fall under IMH Swansea.

You will be expected to deliver academically challenging, vocational related content incorporating innovative teaching and assessment methods to develop student’s competence and capability. You will be expected to lead on extra-curricular, innovative events to encourage student engagement within the Policing  profession.

You will make a positive contribution to the operational activities of the Institute that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development

You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students with due regard  to professional standards and the ongoing enhancement of the student experience.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Lecturer in Policing, you will need:

- A good honours degree in a relevant discipline
- A post graduate in a relevant discipline
- Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment across a diverse student body in policing
- Experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE or website delivery
- Experience of using innovative approaches to learning and teaching
- Possesses excellent organizational and personal management skills
- Proactive and innovative approach to create new learning opportunities
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to deliver at develop new opportunities at undergraduate level
- Engagement in continuous professional development
- Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of teaching, administrative demands and deadlines
- Demonstrable commitment to team working
- Demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity in working practices
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet role requirements

It would also be beneficial if you have a:

- Postgraduate teaching qualification
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Experience in the design and development of module content.
- Experience of working with a network of organisations and individuals at an international level
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
