Our libraries and services are evolving and we are looking for two proactive and adaptable people to join our Learning & Teaching Team.
Library Services help deliver the University’s Transforming Lives strategy through inspiring and empowering scholarship throughout the student journey, developing access to knowledge to support the learning, teaching and research of all students and academic colleagues.
As a Learning & Teaching Librarian, you will provide specialist advice and be the initial point of escalation and referral for students/academic staff (for example through Staff/Student committees) in either Business/Social Sciences or Nursing. You will design, plan and deliver information skills sessions (both face-to-face and online) to support the curriculum and develop high quality and interactive self-help material to enable independent learning. You will also contribute to decisions about the most appropriate resources to put in place to support learning. On a regular basis you will help users through the library’s virtual enquiry service, including chat. There will be regular opportunities to be involved in projects and groups focusing upon the delivery of the Library Services strategic plan.
We will not expect you to have experience of all the elements of this role, as training and mentoring will be provided. But we will expect you to bring an appreciation of the role of academic libraries in underpinning learning and teaching, the confidence and ability to deliver engaging content and an enthusiastic commitment to helping students achieve success. If you are interested in this opportunity, but are concerned that you do not have the exact background, experience or qualifications, please do put in an application and/or have an informal chat with us.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
As well as 25 days annual leave and the eight standard UK bank holidays, you also get up to six extra days each year for extended University closure around some UK public holidays.
For this job we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
The University is unable to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role.
