The Department of Law of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for several PhD candidates to conduct research in financial law with a focus on financial technology, sustainable finance, financial inclusion, collective investment schemes and/or financial centre development. 

Your Role...

The doctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professor Dr. Dirk Andreas Zetzsche, holder of the ADA Chair in Financial Law (inclusive finance). The doctoral researcher’s main task will be to prepare a doctoral thesis in the fields described above. The thesis work will be undertaken at the University of Luxembourg but can also be jointly-supervised with another university. The theme of the PhD will be agreed upon between the doctoral candidate and the supervisor. The doctoral candidate will be part of, and contribute to the team of the ADA Chair and contribute to the teaching of classes ranging from one to three hours per week, of small group teachings and tutorials. 

Qualifications...

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated interest in financial law with a focus on financial technology, sustainable finance, financial inclusion and/or collective investment schemes.

In particular, the following requirements apply:

• A Master’s Degree in law or an equivalent from a different country (eg German First State Exam); in specific cases where financial markets expertise is given, a master in business administration or finance is acceptable
• A proven interests in financial markets ordering and regulation
• Have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in either English or French, good understanding of the second language and possibly a third language, German in particular, will be considered an advantage
• Excellent communication and writing skills

The yearly gross salary for every PhD at the UL is EUR 38.028,96 (full time)
