AI Researcher

Location: Daresbury Laboratory - Warrington

*This role is eligible for up to £1,500 Responsibility and Retention Allowance gross per annum.

Are you an outstanding theoretician with a background in scientific or mathematical research? Are you looking for the chance to move into the fast pace constantly evolving world of AI where you would have a real time impact on some of the most exciting deep learning projects in the UK today?

Due to the continuing success of the Hartree Centre at STFC (part of UK Research and Innovation) we are seeking 3 AI Researchers to work with us on cutting edge projects, including natural language processing, deep generative modelling and computer vision.

If you join the team, you’ll be taking part in our ground-breaking research across a wide range of application domains, using either deep learning or other AI applications where appropriate, and you'll also be working with some of the most powerful supercomputers in the UK.

To be successful in this role

• You don’t need deep knowledge of AI or programming, but you will be expected to learn on the job where you encounter new theory or practical methods
• Proven background in applied mathematics, preferably in a field based on mathematical analysis (i.e. calculus)
• Ability to demonstrate and clearly communicate expertise and insight in your area of speciation
• If you are applying for the role at Band E level you will need leadership skills with previous experience and the ability to lead, empower and develop others.
