The Department of Marketing wishes to appoint two Lecturers or Senior Lecturers in Marketing to further strengthen and develop its world leading research and educational activities. This is an opportunity to join a vibrant and collegiate environment within an international research team. The Department of Marketing is a great place to build a career, as attested by the award of 100% for research environment (REF 2021). We are particularly interested in candidates who contribute to our research and engagement in the ‘market dynamics’ grouping which works in areas including sustainable innovation, marketing and digital strategy and understanding markets.
You should either have a PhD in Marketing or a cognate area or a masters level degree and substantial relevant industrial experience. You must be able to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, prioritising the areas of digital strategy, marketing communications or responsible marketing (sustainability and/or social justice) and have an established research and publication profile in areas consistent with our market dynamics grouping.
The Department of Marketing is part of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) a world-ranked international business school that has consistently ranked among the UK's top ten universities for nearly two decades. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, LUMS was ranked first in the UK in research power. It is one of few business schools whose programs are quadruple accredited: AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB and the Small Business Charter. The school is committed to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and much of the department’s teaching, education and engagement has sustainability and social justice at its core. The School’s international research reputation has underpinned the successful recruitment of world-class faculty, and outstanding students from all over the world are attracted to the University’s undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience programmes. The university’s campus is located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Lancaster, which is also easily accessible from Manchester. The Lake District is at the University’s doorstep.
The Marketing department is home to one of the largest groups of Marketing academics in the UK. We have a reputation for world class research in our key research groupings: Market Dynamics and Consumer Research. We are a department committed to teaching excellence at a university awarded Gold in the UK government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). We pride ourselves on delivering a curriculum that is contemporary, theoretically informed and practitioner relevant.
We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address equality issues in higher education and research, and we welcome applications from people in all diversity groups. The post is available for a September start and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Informal enquiries may be made to the Head of Department of Marketing, Professor Gillian Hopkinson, email: g.hopkinson@lancaster.ac.uk.
We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
