St Catherine’s is one of the newest and largest Colleges within the University of Oxford, with a student population of over 525 undergraduate students and over 375 postgraduate students. The College is a charity and its conference business forms an essential part of its funding arrangements. 

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Conferencing to drive the development of the conference business and ensure the delivery of an unrivalled level of service to the College’s conference clients.

This is an exciting role in which you will oversee, drive and administer all aspects of the conference activity – from marketing and initial negotiation, arranging the availability of facilities, resources and staff, issuing contracts and tracking costs, to issuing invoices, interacting with conference clients at every level.

You will take responsibility for identifying major business prospects and converting leads to business. You will also shape the continuous development and delivery of the conference strategy, including research and development of new and innovative offers and sectors, products and services tailored to different market segments, advertising and promotion, pricing strategies, marketing, provision of services, and business development.

The salary is set within the range £44,706 to £54,943 per annum, comprising 35 hours per week. In addition, benefits include a generous leave allowance, meals without charge whilst on duty, car parking, season ticket loans for travel and free use of the College gym.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of leading conference/event sales and management for a large venue. They will be a positive and enthusiastic individual, with experience of people management. They will also have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to putting the needs of our customers first. This is a challenging role that requires excellent leadership, organisational, administrative and IT skills, an eye for detail and the ability to adopt a flexible approach. A familiarity with Oxford colleges would also be advantageous.
