WMG is an international leader in successful collaboration between academia and the private and public sectors, driving innovation in applied science, technology and engineering. We are currently seeking to recruit Sessional Teaching Fellows in Project Management to join our teaching team, and support with the delivery of established study programmes.

JOB PURPOSE:

As a member of a teaching team working within an established programme of study in Project Management, undertake teaching in a disciplinary area in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its teaching reputation, both internally and externally.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills.
  2. To teach as a member of a teaching team within an established programme of study, with the assistance of a mentor if required.
  3. To develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches with guidance.
  4. To identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
  5. To ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning objectives.
  6. To supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
  7. To select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
  8. To undertake duties related to course administration, such as attendance records, etc.
  9. To attend departmental meetings as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICTIONS

  • Good honours degree or equivalent (in a relevant area)
  • Holds a postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge, in the discipline and of teaching methods and techniques to work within own area
  • Competence in teaching at an appropriate level
  • Familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning
  • Understanding of equal opportunity issues as they may impact on areas of teaching

To provide an indication of hours of work and salary, the post-holder will be required to undertake a minimum of 30 hours of in person teaching over the period of one to two weeks per module. The anticipated pay will be £3,141 per module (equivalent to £31,411 per annum, pro rata) which includes agreed hours for preparation, inductions, admin, office hours, marking and moderation. The contract for this post will be hourly paid, and actual pay will be determined by the work undertaken.
