The University of St Andrews is seeking an inorganic, physical or materials chemist, with experience in solid-state NMR spectroscopy and the characterization of complex inorganic materials. The position is full-time, on a fixed contract until 30 September 2025, and is funded through the UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The successful candidate will join the research groups of Professors Russell Morris and Sharon Ashbrook.
The role will involve the development and application of advanced multinuclear NMR methodology for the detailed characterization of porous solids that combine properties of both zeolites and metal organic frameworks with the goal of developing new classes of hybrid solids. The role may also include some basic synthetic manipulations (e.g., for isotopic enrichment) and the application of periodic planewave DFT calculations to help assign and interpret complex NMR spectra. The role holder will collaborate closely with another researcher with expertise in the synthesis of inorganic and porous solids.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in chemistry or related subject, ideally with significant experience of solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
