Applications are invited for a research associate in history on the large, multi-disciplinary research project ‘Our Heritage, Our Stories: Linking and searching community-generated digital content (CDGC) to develop the people's national collection’, funded by the the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of their Towards a National Collection programme. The project responds to the urgent challenge of making previously unfindable and unlinkable CGDC discoverable within the national collection, while respecting and embracing its complexity and diversity by co-designing and building sophisticated automated tools to make it searchable and connected.

You will be working with a powerful interdisciplinary partnership on the history strand of the project. You will work with the History lead (Barker) to produce case studies of focused periods and themes which draw on CGDC to reveal compelling new narratives about the histories and development of contemporary British society. Central to the work of the History Lab, and to that of the project as a whole, is the establishment of a community of practice, where we identify and collaborate with a number of independent community-produced digital archives that record, safeguard, and make known records, artefacts and oral histories of migration, religious and ethnic identity, and the social history of the UK at a local level.

We expect to hold interviews for the post in the w/c 5 September 2022.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
