Are you an experienced teacher of Maths, familiar with the higher education sector and interested in supporting our diverse student cohort to successfully complete their Foundation year?

We are looking for a permanent Foundation Subject Tutor to join our teaching team from September to deliver high-quality, engaging teaching and student experience.

Teaching hours and schedules are defined according to module and teaching requirements and timetabling. Generally this will be a minimum of four hours of contact time per week (two-hour lecture, one-hour seminar, one-hour workshop) on our International Foundation Programmes in Autumn (Sep to May) and in Spring (Jan to Jul), with other duties and marking throughout the calendar year. As Foundation Subject Tutor, you can expect to get involved in the following:

  • teaching the specific module to foster student achievement using a variety of techniques and styles/approaches
  • convening the relevant module following the course specification and syllabus, and undertake related administrative duties
  • developing and updating materials and VLE pages for assigned modules
  • marking and moderating coursework and examinations in line with grading criteria and timelines, providing effective and constructive feedback to students

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a postgraduate degree associated with the subject area or extensive equivalent experience in teaching the subject in a similar context
  • a certificate or diploma in teaching or equivalent experience
  • in-service training/practice of teaching in a relevant, similar context, or extensive equivalent experience
  • recent experience and knowledge of dynamic and student-centred teaching associated with preparing students for university study
  • a strong awareness of equal opportunities and intercultural and interpersonal differences
