An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide maternity cover for the Strategic Research and Partnerships Manager at the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. This post is ideal for a secondment opportunity, as a chance to learn more about cancer partners and the research ecosystem in Manchester.
The overall purpose of the post is to identify, develop and implement strategic research opportunities for the MCRC, its partners and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, including facilitating the procurement of external funding by the MCRC/Christie by managing and preparing relevant grant applications. It also includes driving the MCRC’s and The Christie’s aspirations around internationalisation. In addition, the post provides direction and project management for ongoing and future initiatives that are integral to the MCRC and Christie R&I strategies, this will involve working closely with senior personnel from all partners within the MCRC and across the Greater Manchester Cancer Research Ecosystem including the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, with honorary accountability to their team.
The maternity leave cover will work across the MCRC partners (University of Manchester, Christie NHS Foundation Trust and CRUK) to predominantly oversee existing initiatives, as well as co-ordinate new opportunities as and when they arise. These include national and international research awards, co-ordination of programmes across Greater Manchester, and operational work within cancer research in Manchester. For those already working in research in Manchester, particularly in cancer research, this post is a great development opportunity to learn more about the MCRC’s strategic partners, as well as engage with a range of stakeholders at a local, national and international level.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments will be made on merit.
