We are inviting applications for a Finance Assistant to join our team supporting the University’s academic faculties. The role is available in several locations across the University’s campuses in the UK, including University Park, Jubilee Campus, Queen’s Medical Centre, Royal Derby Hospital and Sutton Bonington. Our Financial Management team provides a full range of financial services from purchasing, expenses, and transactional level support through to financial reporting, business partnering and financial modelling.
Reporting into the Finance Team Manager, you will act as the first point of contact in the Financial Management offices. You will be responsible for purchasing of goods and services, travel booking and expenses processing, and budget monitoring. You will provide a range of finance related support and advice to staff and students, via an open door, welcoming environment, and a helpful can-do attitude, so a customer service focus is important.
You should be able to demonstrate an interest in Finance, though previous experience in a finance role is not an essential requirement as full training will be provided. You should be highly numerate, with good attention to detail, and the ability to manage your time well and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. We are looking for individuals with good inter-personal skills with the ability to work with staff and students from a range of backgrounds.
As a not-for-profit organisation, all the income we generate is redirected into providing high quality teaching for our students and the delivery of our world-class research. The University is organised into five Academic Faculties who deliver this teaching and research (Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Medicine & Health Science) and numerous Professional Service Departments who provide the support and infrastructure to enable it.
At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme.
We have 7 posts available. 6 of these are full time and permanent (36.25 hours per week). Post 7 is part time and permanent (25 hours per week).
Shortlisted applicants will be expected to attend a face-to-face interview on campus in Nottingham.
The successful candidate will be expected to work on campus 2/3 days per week.
Previous applicants need not apply.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Julie Wells, email email@example.com. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
