Project description

Proposals are invited for PhD projects that address an original and urgent architectural topic that contributes to our understanding of how to create sustainable and resilient societies and environments. In particular, we are looking for projects that address the role of architecture in relation to the themes of climate resilience and sustainable resources, both of which are core areas of engagement of Oxford Brookes University’s Sustainable and Resilient Futures Network. The project will be based in the School of Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. Within the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment, the School of Architecture is a globally renowned centre of excellence. Proposals should include clear aims and objectives; a statement on the significance of the project and how it aligns to the themes of climate resilience or sustainable resources; and a clearly defined methodology and a timetabled plan of work. It should provide evidence of how it builds on current knowledge and understanding around the topic. The research proposal should not exceed 1,500 words (excluding bibliography) and be written using Harvard style in text citations.

Applicants should have a first or upper second-class honours degree from a Higher Education Institution in architecture or a relevant related discipline.
