Following a successful period of strong growth in our Psychology portfolio this academic year followed by healthy staff recruitment, we are pleased to be able to offer an additional post in Occupational Psychology.

The School of Human Sciences recently relocated to the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This move, along with the creation of new laboratory facilities, is part of a significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty.  As part of this investment, we are looking to appoint a dynamic and engaged colleague to help grow and develop the school. In particular, we will be developing our portfolio of accredited postgraduate taught programmes, including a master’s degree in Occupational Psychology. This will consolidate and extend our existing provision in, for example, our accredited BSc H Business Psychology programme.

You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact. As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Life course Development:

•        Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing

•        Centre for Inequalities

•        Centre for Mental Health

•        Centre for Professional Workforce Development

•        Centre for Thinking and Learning

•        Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families

The school has an active and growing research base. We performed well in REF2021, particularly with regard to the ‘research environment’. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’ in any forthcoming assessment exercise.

We are looking to recruit an individual with a strong and developing track record of research who, at the same time, can demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. We actively sustain and promote a collegiate atmosphere that is underpinned by equality, diversity, and inclusion. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD and a developing profile of international-quality publications, together with appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sectors for this level.

We are particularly interested in supporting applications from individuals who are from communities which currently or have historically faced marginalisation or discrimination. For more on what we do, explore our EDI commitments here: https://www.gre.ac.uk/hr/edi.

We are also interested in receiving applications from those interested in different work patterns, including that job-share, part-time working, or other flexible working arrangements.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Dr Charlotte Jeavons (Interim Head of School); email: C.Jeavons@greenwich.ac.uk
