Having responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of a small technical service or team within ASU ensuring the health and welfare of the animals and smooth running of a defined suite of animal rooms and facilities so that they are fit for purpose and compliant with the exacting standards required by the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act and other relevant regulatory requirements e.g., Health & Safety, GLP, DEFRA.
What will you be doing?
Lead a Culture of Care by acting as Named Animal Care and Welfare Officer (NACWO). Lead on local operational safety. Implement and review local rules, policies, and legislative requirements. Uphold University Health & Safety requirements. Work in GLP facilities to GLP standards, as required. May be required to act as site departmental safety advisor.
