This post represents an opportunity for an individual to provide academic leadership for simulation, clinical skills education and scholarship across the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS). The Faculty has four Schools; Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Pharmacy & Bioengineering, and Allied Health Professions, and offer a full range of clinical and non-clinical undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD courses. The quality of training is reflected in feedback from the professional bodies responsible for validating degree courses and in the excellent rankings enjoyed by all four Schools in disciplinary league tables and the National Student Survey. Students enjoy excellent staff support and small group teaching in superb surroundings with access to the latest technology and facilities that include state-of-the-art anatomy, community simulation suites including the newly commissioned Health House and Health Bungalow, plus training ambulance and 3D virtual reality. Students also benefit from partnerships with NHS organisations across Staffordshire and Shropshire, including UHNM one of the largest acute Trust in the country.
The role holder will work with colleagues within the Faculty and wider University to develop, implement and evaluate a new faculty strategy for simulation in health and social Care education, maximising opportunities to grow innovative, high quality and evidence-based learning opportunities, in line with professional, statutory and regulatory body (PSRB) requirements. The postholder would also be expected to contribute to and/or lead scholarship, research, teaching and knowledge exchange in simulation in health and social care education that is relevant to the University and faculty strategy. Experience of design, implementation and evaluation of health or social care simulation curricula, leading and managing a teaching team, and delivery of health-related education will be essential alongside the ability to work collaboratively and to lead and manage projects effectively.
