Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) is one of the leading performing arts higher education institutes in the UK. The Role

RBC is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and proactive Team Leader to join the Administration Team. The Team Leader will take on line management of several administrators and will also deputise for the Operations Manager when required. The Team Leader will have a broad portfolio of responsibility and will be expected to take ownership of a complex range of deliverables.

As a Team Leader, you will be at the centre of the action, with responsibility for the successful operation of many administrative workstreams within the School. Regularly collaborating with a wide range of colleagues across both RBC and the University, you will ensure excellence not only for the staff and student experience but also for professional activities and events both here in Birmingham and around the globe.

Main Responsibilities

You will manage a variety of committed administrators who provide professional high-quality support to RBC staff, students, and external stakeholders, to enable a smooth and effective student support service.

You will take the lead on various projects across the academic year that are critical to the overall success of the Administration Team and will be expected to deliver a substantial output to a consistently high standard.

You will provide guidance to all team members and colleagues across RBC on a range of areas including system processes, University policies, and various regulations from both BCU and external organisations. You will also be a key link to the Conservatoires UK organisation and the Federation of Drama Schools on matters of administration management, representing RBC in the national sector when required.

You will receive direction from the Operations Manager, who you will personally support and work very closely together with, to ensure the Administration Team is empowered to achieve its full potential.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience of successful line management and team leadership.
  • Evidence of successful delivery of multi-faceted, medium to long-term projects.
  • Experience of handling large and complex volumes of data.
  • Substantial experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
  • Outstanding communication skill, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise appropriately and effectively.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of managing purchase orders and additional finance-related tasks.
  • Familiarity with a student record management system, preferably SITS:Vision.
  • Substantive knowledge of classical music and theatre.
