We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Quantum Engineering research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the EPSRC and is fixed-term to December 31, 2025.
This project aims to perform a deterministic quantum logic gate between two photonic quantum bits using an electronic spin confined in an optically active quantum dot. You will be responsible for combining nanofabrication of micro-optical and semiconductor devices, low-temperature optical spectroscopy, quantum optics protocols, and spin control approaches to the design of a high-efficiency, high-fidelity quantum device that will perform such a quantum optical gate.
You should possess a PhD/DPhil (or be closed to completion) in a discipline cognate to the project, and you should have extensive experience with experimental quantum optics with either atoms or solid-state emitters.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof Dorian Gangloff (email: email@example.com )

Only online applications received before midday on 14th October 2022 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
