London South bank University is now looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Theatre Manager to be responsible for the day-to day planning, operation, organisation and effective management of the Edric Theatre, rehearsal studios and props workshop. This is an exciting opportunity in a growing area with opportunities to work with an experienced technician team and collaborate with both the Artistic Director of the LSBU Student Theatre Company and other academic colleagues to maintain and develop the currency of the theatre spaces.
You will have a background in technical and production practice in a professional or educational setting. You will be passionate about theatre production and enthusiastic about supporting staff and students with their productions. Your will be proactive, organised with the ability to be flexible. You will work well under pressure and be able to juggle competing priorities. You will be resilient, reliable, and solution-focussed, motivating your team to deliver an excellent support service to students and staff.
Exciting work you will do
You will work in close collaboration with the academic team delivering the curriculum in the drama school and across other areas of the school of Arts and Creative Industries. You will work on both internal and external performances with students and guest directors. You will be part of a wider technical team with a rich set of experience and skills across the wide remit of not only the school of Arts and Creative Industries but other technical areas.
The skills and experience you will need to be successful
You will have practitioner’s experience in technical theatre production and stage craft, with excellent technical skills, knowledge and understanding of theatre lighting and sound systems. You will have practical experience of Health and safety and its applications in this area, together with exceptional organisational skills. You will be an effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across and outside the organisation with colleagues, students and external stakeholders alike.
Details about the role and how to apply
This is a full-time campus-based role. The working week will be 35 hours, worked from Monday to Friday; typically, from, 8:30 to 6:00pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day.
Please note that due to the nature of the role and this curriculum area, start/finish may vary (as indicated above), with some evening and weekend shifts required.
