St Mary's University is looking for an outstanding individual to lead the next stage of development of its Centre for Catholic Education, Research and Religious Literacy (CERRL) following the sad death of its founder director Professor Anthony Towey. The Centre has evolved out of two research centres (Aquinas Centre and Centre for Research and Development in Catholic Education) within the University and builds on the work of Professor Gerald Grace who joined St Mary's from the Institute of Education at UCL in 2016. St Mary’s University is open to the new Director role being shared by two individuals with complementary experience and skills.
The new Director(s) will be able to lead research projects and professional development programmes as well as provide some teaching and supervision for courses for which St Mary's University is renowned, such as MA Catholic School Leadership, MA Education (RE pathway) and Professional Doctorate in Education, and to develop and support new courses as appropriate for the sector.
They will also be expected to build national and international networks in the field of Catholic education research, publish at the highest levels and obtain funding for research that takes place within the centre. The Director will join an enthusiastic and professional team who are leading figures in Catholic education, teaching and research. Given the University's history and mission, this research centre is of crucial importance to the strategic development of the University.
