The Information School at the University of Sheffield is advertising for up to two funded PhD Scholarships to start in October 2023. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to provide up to a maximum of 180 hours of teaching support per academic year and a minimum of 80 hours each year. Expected hours will be “tapered” in the first year to a maximum of 120. Applicants must be able to teach topics on our postgraduate programmes and we are particularly interested in applicants who could contribute to modules in information systems and data science. Applicants must be based in Sheffield for the duration of the scholarship. Payment for teaching support will be made in addition to bursary and fees, at the rate set by the Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) scheme.

Eligibility:

Applicants are normally expected to hold a strong Master's Degree (or be working towards Master's degree at the time of application), with an overall grade of at least 65% from a UK institution (or equivalent from an overseas university), with a minimum of 65% in a research project/dissertation.

English Language Requirements:

A degree from a University classed as 'majority English speaking' by UK Visas and Immigration, completed in the last five years.

OR

An English language qualification, obtained in the last two years, that meets our minimum entry requirements: IELTS 6.5, with at least 6 in each component (or equivalent).

Funding:

The successful applicant will receive an annual stipend at the standard UK Research Council rate (£16,062/year for 2022/3). The funding will only cover the cost of Home tuition fees and any successful international applicants would need to pay the difference between the home and the international fee.
