This new full-time post is available from January 2023 on a fixed term basis until March 2024.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. 

The Role 

The University of Exeter is seeking an experienced business development manager in the Data, Engineering and Physical Sciences Team who will serve as the University’s expert professional for building collaborations with organisations across commercial corporations, public services, policy making and education sectors. 

The IPDM will lead the University’s growing programme of collaboration with the following three emerging areas: Urban Analytics, GovTech and Health and Data as well as developing strong relationships with policy makers, businesses, charities and other non-academic partners in these sectors. 

The University of Exeter has specific strengths and opportunities in these areas with a significant range of academic, research and training offers and there will be extensive opportunities to work with world-leading research concepts and to network and collaborate. The role will also focus on target Innovate UK funding. 

About you 

The successful candidate will have experience of working successfully with partners from across academic, public and private sectors and will have extensive knowledge of public sector trends and research, education innovation opportunities and the knowledge exchange needs of the sector. They will be responsible for coordinating and driving existing activities in this area, identifying opportunities to deliver greater value to these sectors, working with researchers from across disciplines and colleges, and engaging with policy makers across the UK and globally. 

Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) is the professional team that supports and drives this critical work.  Its key aim is to secure significantly greater value and impact from relationships with partners drawing on the University’s education, research and physical assets. This includes research collaboration, commercial services, new venture development, skills, placements, and education partnerships. The Impact and Partnership Development Manager will work as part of the IIB Hub for the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy.
