About The Role

We are looking to recruit an Online Tutor to join our BA Hons Interior Design (Online) team in the School of Architecture, Design and Interiors. Your role will involve working on a module which is titled ‘Sustainable and Ethical Luxury’ which will introduce students to sustainable and ethical approaches to design. The module will question what sustainable luxury means within hospitality design and will build on previously introduced human-centred design principles. Topics covered may include user experience, design for well-being and biophilic design. Technical drawing and modelling techniques are further extended to explore design over more than one level and CAD is introduced as a means to communicate design proposals.

This module content is already recorded, the online tutor leads discussions and reviews students work in weekly tutorials and webinars. Students engage with pre-recorded content that has been created by module leaders in the virtual learning environment and work through this during the week in their own time and come together to meet their online tutor for live sessions.

As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars and tutorials each week a global cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for pastoral support, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online studio space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience. The hours for this role are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. Tutorials take place at the beginning of the week and webinars at the end. The cohort is global so the times of these sessions will alternate am and pm to ensure all can attend. The flexibility of this role means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities. The role compliments individuals who have freelance careers or other teaching commitments. Each online tutor is responsible for no more than 30 students, making this an extremely rewarding role.

This is a part-time, 13 hours per week, flexible home-working role which starts in January 2023, supporting a group of students for 16 weeks until May 2023.
