Professor / Head of Management Subject Group

Edinburgh Napier Business School is seeking to appoint a highly ambitious and motivated Professor with vision, experience and international standing to lead the Management Subject Group.

We are one of the largest modern Business Schools in Scotland, with a strong academic reputation in undergraduate, postgraduate, executive education, and business research. The school is focused on the delivery of a large portfolio of programmes which reflect the needs of students and places greater emphasis on practical experiences and application of learning.

The role

The Management Group is responsible for the delivery of our largest undergraduate degree, as well as our MBA suite. With particular expertise in leadership, business strategy and operations, supply chain, project management and sustainability, the group contributes to programmes across the school and maintains a suite of short courses and CPD programmes.

You will provide management and academic leadership for a team of 40 academic colleagues. You will support the development of successful income generation through research, enterprise or innovation, contribute to teaching, have line management responsibilities and be responsible for the support and development of a strong and ambitious group of colleagues including early career academics.

As part of the School’s Leadership Team, you will contribute to the continued development and implementation of our strategic plan, with particular focus on the growth and development of the subject area, providing an excellent student experience with real world application and the creation of a distinctive curriculum.

You will have a strong network of industry and academic contacts and engage with relevant stakeholder groups to foster collaboration, innovation and other initiatives, thereby generating income.  A focus for all our academic staff is to maximise networks, build relationships with industry to deliver income growth, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and internationalise our work with a focus on Transnational Education Programmes (TNE).

We are looking for exceptional candidates who will take an active part in our ambitious strategy for The Business School, bringing their experience, skills, and creativity to the role, whilst demonstrating a track record of high-quality teaching and research activity and leadership experience within their discipline.

Applicants must demonstrate:

• PhD in a relevant discipline
• Academic achievement including international standing, research outputs, income generation and academic leadership
• Extensive experience of leading and managing large academic programmes
• Leadership achievement including management experience in higher education
• High quality teaching/learning and research programmes

Salary: £67,541 - £91,880 per annum (Grade 8-9) + Pension (Employer contribution of 23% - Scottish Teachers Superannuation Scheme)
