Job Summary

The Joint Research Office works to serve the research community across the Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC). Organised into specialist teams, JRO staff facilitate the management of research grants and contracts in the Faculty of Medicine.  The JRO Contracts Team provides advice on all matters relating to terms and conditions of externally funded research projects and related agreements.  

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide support to investigators and departments in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating research and research related agreements
  • Have ownership of managing a portfolio of research contracts
  • Checking financials and reading project protocols to understand the nature of research
  • Draft and negotiate appropriate contractual terms
  • Deploy good working knowledge of contractual issues such as intellectual property, confidentiality, publications, liabilities and other related issues within the context of College and NHS policies

Essential requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of working in an administrative job (preferably within the Higher Education, NHS, charitable or related sectors)
  • Proven experience of working independently and as part of a team
  • Have proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, email)
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Committed to the delivery of customer services
  • Have a “can do” approach

This is a full-time, open-ended role and will be based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023.  Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.  The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
