Leading our Oral Skills Modules
BPP Law School is seeking to appoint a Module Leader with responsibility for its oral skills modules. Oral skills collectively include basic oral presentation, advocacy, interviewing / conferencing and witness handling. The successful candidate will have overarching responsibility for the teaching, assessment and leadership of oral skills across all Law School programmes, including our BTC, LPC and SQE.
What you’ll be doing
As a Module Leader you will be an academic leader who will play a vital role in upholding educational standards and maintaining the quality of modules and assessments in your subject area of oral skills. Module Leaders participate in designing materials, creating assessments, marking and providing feedback to students but their more substantial role is to coach, direct and support others in the same tasks.
The role will involve working collaboratively with other members of the Curriculum team. The team’s goal is to develop and maintain a curriculum that is accessible and inclusive, that builds a motivation and appetite to learn, whilst making a significant and positive contribution to a student’s overall experience.
BPP Law School values excellence and innovation in the teaching of oral skills. The Module Leader for oral skills will work cross-programme to maintain excellence and contribute to enhancement initiatives. The role is an opportunity to feed into and enhance the methodology and delivery of oral skills teaching and learning across BPP Law School. This includes designing workshops and creating asynchronous content; overseeing Lead Tutors in delivery of the oral skills teaching; maintaining high standards and consistency in the creation and drafting of assessments.
Choose a better work-life balance
With hybrid working available, you’ll be able to split your time between one of our centres and wherever you choose to call home. Either way, you’ll benefit from a vibrant workplace and a culture that believes in looking after others, while being part of a diverse workforce where difference is celebrated. In addition, you’ll work alongside other like-minded professionals who champion progress, while having opportunities to develop in an environment where creativity and innovation is rewarded.
On top of a competitive salary, we provide a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days, and there’s a rewards package that includes retail discounts, Group Personal Pension Plan, dedicated healthcare and dental plans that offer additional assurance to look after you and your family. Brilliantly, you can also study any of BPP’s courses for free – be it a professional qualification or full degree.
What we’re looking for
You will have a passion for teaching and learning, be able to uphold and champion curriculum and teaching excellence, whilst role modelling the values and traits of a highly capable and effective leader. The role of a Module Leader is multi-faceted and requires strong organisational and leadership skills to perform the role effectively.
The role would particularly suit someone with oral skills teaching experience on one or more law programmes who has a passion for maintaining high standards of oral skills teaching and assessment as well as striving for improvement based on teaching experience and academic literature on teaching and learning best practice.
