The Centre for Enzyme Innovation (CEI) is a flagship research-hub at the University of Portsmouth, focused on delivering transformative enzyme-enabled solutions for the circular recycling of plastics. The CEI has a well-established research and innovation pipeline aimed at achieving this goal. Discovering new enzymes from the environment that can breakdown plastic waste; Engineer enzymes to improve their activity/thermostability/durability; Deploy our enzymes at laboratory scale; we apply polymer-chemistry to circularize the enzymatic recycling process.

The successful Specialist Technician (Research) will contribute to the growing research and innovation culture within the CEI, and more broadly across the School of Biological Sciences. You will provide high-quality technical information in support of the research project(s) and laboratory work; be responsible for equipment and material usage and maintenance, in accordance with relevant legislation and University Policies. In addition, you will make a significant contribution to a broad range of technical services, including training staff/PhD students and will directly contribute to research activities.
The Specialist Technician (Research) post offers the opportunity to work in the fundamental research areas that underpin the CEI pipeline, while developing specialist skills and engaging with an international network of experts.
