Job Summary
The University of Birmingham, School of Dentistry is looking to appoint a number of part-time Clinical Dental Tutors to teach clinical dental students in aspects of Adult Restorative Dentistry in Clinical Practice, or specific Specialty Teaching areas including fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, simulation environments and occasionally in other areas as required.
Main Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be required to undertake clinical teaching and associated administrative duties as directed by the Head of School and the relevant academic leads. The demonstration of initiative in contributing actively to the continued development and improvement of the teaching programme is welcomed and expected.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
Candidates will have full registration with the UK General Dental Council (GDC), be a good team worker, meet the requirements for Occupational Health clearance and DBS screening and preferably have been involved in Dental Foundation Training (previously Vocational Training) and have some experience of teaching.
Candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be capable of adapting to diverse environments including the clinic, classroom, lecture theatre, one-to-one situations and will be able to communicate with colleagues and students at all levels in a clear, effective and timely manner.
The Clinical Dental Tutor role will work 43 weeks per year.
