The School of Creative Arts is a vibrant, creative and busy place to work with a wide variety of subjects taught.
We are looking for three enthusiastic team players to support the Creative Arts technical team. The post holders will work in all areas of the Creative Arts but will initially be placed in one area with a view to moving around the School as required. These areas are busy all year round and used by all Creative Arts students. The areas we support are video, film and TV, music, photography, woodwork, metalwork, print, fashion, animation, ceramics, jewellery, architecture, graphics and Illustration, model making, equipment loans, 3d printing, laser cutting.
Main duties and responsibilities
The post-holder will support and assist in all Creative Arts Technical areas and be part of a friendly team where plenty of training will be provided to help you. You will support in preparing resources and equipment for timetabled teaching, whilst ensuring the working environment is kept in safe working order in accordance with health and safety guidelines. You will also receive requests from staff and students for access to resources, whilst monitoring stock levels and assist in preparing risk assessments.
Skills and experience
The post-holder will need to be able to demonstrate some relevant experience in in at least one of the areas outlined in the job description (Wood Working, Metal work, Plastics, Model Making, Mould Making, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Video, Photography, Animation, Music, Interactive Media, VFX, Textile, Fashion, traditional print making). Experience of working in an educational environment, or in a technical role, would be an advantage but is not essential.
The post holder will require relevant IT skills and excellent communication and time management skills. You will be flexible and adaptable to workload requirements and have the ability to work as part of a team. In addition to this, you will have a high standard of accuracy and safety, with a client orientated approach. You will also need the ability to carry out physical tasks and work to deadlines.
Qualifications
The post-holder will be educated to at least A level standard or equivalent (or have equivalent industry experience), ideally in a related area. You will also have a qualification of practical experience in one of the areas outlined in the job description.
