The Opportunity
Department of Psychiatry, Central Clinical School, is based at Level 4, 607 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, Australia, and is headed by Professor Jayashri Kulkarni (AM). The Department comprises clinical research, teaching, education, and administration personnel, as well as HDR and Honours students.
The Department is well known for its innovative and cutting-edge clinical research in Women’s Mental Health, translating basic science into new treatments for serious mental illness. See www.monash.edu/her-centre. The Department also has satellite sites at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern and at Peninsula Medical School.
This position provides academic and research leadership within the department and specifically in HER Centre Australia. The incumbent will also be expected to develop and lead their own research program which over time should generate competitive research grants and funding, publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. The position will also supervise postgraduate and higher degree research students.
In addition, the position will provide active support to the Head of Department, including representation at committees and in other forums associated with the Departments strategic goals.
