We would like to recruit a candidate who shares these research and knowledge exchange ambitions and can contribute to the research culture at Solent, joining our active research community. In your role, you will be supported to be involved in research, knowledge exchange and scholarly activity.

Solent University, Southampton is seeking to appoint a Senior Academic into a brand-new post of Lead Computer Scientist who is passionate and an enthusiastic academic with an experience of leadership and expertise in the subject of Computing within the Department of Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering and developing the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategy and build on highly successful REF2021 results by producing research impact case studies and outputs that are world leading and internationally excellent.

As a senior academic, you will play an active role in unlocking the full potential of the provision and make significant contribution to the growth of the taught portfolio across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Committed to student-centred education, you will take full responsibility of all Computing academic matters including course development, curriculum enhancement and PSRB requirements. You will oversee and decide on software and hardware investments in Computing, and coordinate recruitment initiatives.

As the Lead Computer Scientist, you are required to lead from the front in bringing in research-informed-teaching to the classroom. You will bring relevant teaching and/ or industry experience and awareness of current developments in the discipline. With a proven track record, you will also be expected to engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders, professional bodies and learned societies and lead on existing initiatives and/ or develop new collaborations that are beneficial to the University.
