This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Are you an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a broad interest in the UK research funding landscape? Do you have a desire to be part of a research development team providing high quality support and guidance to academic colleagues to help to grow their research funding portfolios? Do you have a passion for communication and an ability to balance a demanding and varied workload?
The University Strategy 2020 to 2030 sets out our commitment to harness expertise in research to help shape a better future for humanity, working collaboratively to tackle inequalities, benefit society and drive change. You will work as part of the UK Research Development Team, based centrally within the University’s Research and Innovation Service. The team plays a key role in supporting academics to develop high-quality research and innovation proposals and coordinating institutional responses to funding priorities and opportunities.
With strong project management skills, flexibility to balance work across different activities, and experience of acting as a source of expert advice to a range of audiences, you will work in partnership with the Research & Innovation Development Team to design and implement a range of institutional research support processes, including peer review and demand management panels and requests for matched funding.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be crucial. You will need to quickly establish a University-wide profile, and forge strong links with key academics and colleagues in professional services to build effective networks across the University.
