The role
The Bristol Medical School seeks to appoint a new member of academic staff. You should have experience in leading high-level independent research, seeking research funding relevant to cardiovascular research and evidence of a significant publication record. A commitment to undergraduate teaching on our popular M.Sc. programmes is also essential. Applicants whose research and teaching experience complements Bristol’s existing outstanding portfolio in translational research in multiple health science areas including cardiovascular, endocrinology, neuroscience, musculoskeletal, cancer, regenerative and renal medicine are particularly encouraged to apply.
What will you be doing?
As the successful applicant you will lead research in cardiovascular medicine (ideally, that is translational in its nature or objectives), attract research grants, publish in high-quality papers, and collaborate with members of the Bristol Heart Institute research and the wider Bristol research community. As the post-holder you will also supervise postgraduate students, and where relevant undergraduate project students. You will also be expected to make a positive contribution to the general research culture of the Bristol Medical School and the wider University to maximise the impact of their research with external stakeholders and to conduct public engagement activities where relevant. As the successful applicant you will also be expected to play a role in the leadership, management and delivery of our taught postgraduate Masters programmes (https://www.bristol.ac.uk/medical-school/study/postgraduate/) and, where appropriate, contribute to other postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.
